Unboxing and Initial Impressions

The K2 Phase Pro helmet arrived in a sturdy box, well-packaged. Inside, besides the helmet itself, I found a headphone jack for the helmet's built-in audio system. The helmet is a striking blue, matching the color shown in the product images.

The included headphone cable has a standard 3.5mm jack for easy connection to a smartphone. A button on the cable likely controls playback and call answering.

Overall first impressions were positive; the packaging was excellent and the helmet itself looks high-quality and well-designed.

Helmet Features and Vents

The K2 Phase Pro features adjustable vents on the front. These are controlled by sliding tabs, allowing for customized airflow.

The top vents are not adjustable, but this is typical and doesn’t significantly impact performance, especially with a beanie or liner.

The rear vents are also non-adjustable. The goggle strap features a clever, secure clip-in system that’s both easy to use and keeps goggles in place.

K2 Dialed Fit System and Integrated Audio

The K2 Dialed Fit System allows for a precise, customized fit. A dial on the back of the helmet allows for easy adjustment.

This system ensures the helmet fits snugly to different head shapes and sizes, and can accommodate wearing a hat underneath.

The integrated speakers are a nice addition, but the wired connection isn't ideal in the modern era where Bluetooth connectivity is much more convenient.

Upgrading the Audio with Bluetooth Speakers

I chose to replace the wired speakers with my own Bluetooth Outdoor Tech Chips. This required removing the original speakers, a process which involved some careful disassembly.

I removed the factory speakers and their mounting system, then secured my Bluetooth speakers in place using double-sided tape. I also added additional zip ties for extra security.

Additional Padding and Helmet Comparison

For added protection and comfort, I added extra padding from my old helmet using double-sided tape. This enhances impact absorption during falls.

A side-by-side comparison with my old Giro Revolver helmet reveals some key differences. The K2 Phase Pro has a lower profile, providing more coverage around the base of the skull.

The K2 Phase Pro's fit is more snug and protective than the Giro Revolver, and overall, I find the added neck padding offers superior comfort.

Conclusion: Is the K2 Phase Pro Worth It?

The K2 Phase Pro is a solid upgrade from the Giro Revolver, offering a more comfortable, protective fit thanks to the K2 Dialed Fit System and improved lower profile. The adjustable vents are a welcome feature.

While the factory wired audio system is functional, upgrading to a wireless Bluetooth system is highly recommended for convenience. My modification was relatively easy and significantly improved the overall experience.

Considering its improved fit, comfort, and potential for a wireless audio upgrade, the K2 Phase Pro is a worthwhile investment for snowboarders and skiers seeking a high-quality, protective helmet.
