Durability and Construction

The DB Journey ski bag, formerly known as the Douchebag, has been my trusty companion for over five years. It's endured countless trips to the Rockies and the West Coast, facing the rigors of airline baggage handling. While it shows wear and tear (some duct tape repairs from a baggage handler mishap!), the overall construction is surprisingly robust. The bag's core design and material have held up remarkably well, a testament to its durability. The zippers and seams, for the most part, remain intact and functional.

Despite some minor damage from baggage handlers (easily repaired with duct tape), the bag has remained remarkably resilient. The main body material is tough and has resisted tears and punctures remarkably well, even with the stresses of frequent travel. The design choices, particularly the roll-up system, are cleverly conceived for maximizing space and protection.

Packing Capacity and Organization

The DB Journey's unique design uses your skis as a base, creating a surprisingly spacious interior. I can easily fit a pair of skis, boots, gloves, and other accessories all within the roll-up bag. The added bonus is that I simply place my ski boots on top of the skis, minimizing the risk of damage during travel. This clever design maximizes space efficiently.

The bag accommodates even my wide powder skis, and it's possible to fit two pairs of skis with clever packing. I add a towel for extra protection to prevent scratches. The side pockets are perfect for poles (I use collapsible poles with wine corks at the ends to prevent poking holes). The overall design focuses on efficient packing and security of equipment.

Travel Convenience and Accessories

Beyond its functionality, the DB Journey shines as a travel companion. The roll-up design makes it exceptionally easy to manage in the airport and rental cars. The optional backpack straps, which I highly recommend, make navigating airports a breeze. It makes airport travel significantly less stressful.
